SG Cares Volunteer Centres Across All 24 Towns

Since November 2018, community-based organizations have been appointed to operate SG Cares Volunteer Centres (VCs) in residential towns across Singapore. As of early 2026, all 24 towns have an operational VC. Each centre is responsible for growing and coordinating volunteer supply, building volunteer management capabilities within local organizations, and brokering partnerships between those who want to give and those who need support.

The SG Cares movement itself is co-led by the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) and the National Council of Social Service (NCSS), with oversight from the SG Cares Office under the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY).

How the Volunteer Centres Operate

Each SG Cares VC is run by an established community organization that already has deep ties in the town it serves. The operator identifies local needs, recruits and deploys volunteers, and connects donors with relevant causes. Rather than running their own programmes exclusively, the VCs broker relationships between volunteers and existing charities, social enterprises, and grassroots organizations in the neighbourhood.

A typical centre handles requests such as: matching a corporate group with a meal distribution project, connecting a retiree to a weekly befriending programme at a nearby nursing home, or linking a university student to a tutoring initiative for at-risk children. The key function is coordination rather than direct delivery of services, although some operators also run their own social programmes.

Finding Your Local Volunteer Centre

The full list of SG Cares Volunteer Centres, including addresses and contact information, is maintained on the official SG Cares website. Individuals and groups can also search for volunteering opportunities through volunteer.gov.sg and Giving.sg, both of which list roles available through VCs and other organizations.

Corporate groups typically contact the VC in the town where they wish to volunteer and discuss suitable projects. Many centres offer curated experiences for first-time corporate volunteers, including orientation briefings and guided activities.
